Simple.TV DVR Is Shutting Down

The Simple.TV DVR is shutting down and users will longer be able to record or play content using the Simple.TV device.

Simple.TV was one of several OTA (Over The Air) DVRs made for cord cutters. An OTA DVR is a DVR that records live broadcast TV signals received through a TV antenna.

OTA DVR Options

Fortunately, similar products are still available. Other DVR options include the TiVo OTA DVR and the Tablo Dual Tuner DVR.

TiVo OTA DVR

The TiVo OTA DVR is a highly rated and well supported platform. Having fully integrated streaming apps means that a Roku is not needed to use the supported streaming apps. TiVo shows you what shows are available either for free or for a charge, and with the click of a button will take you right to that show in Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, or Vudu.

The TiVo even has the highly functional TiVo Mini that brings all the shows and functionality of the main DVR to any room in the house.

You simply cannot go wrong with a TiVo. It is a one-stop cord cutting device. If you do buy a TiVo, I highly recommend making sure you get a Lifetime Service included and NO monthly service fees.

Tablo Dual Tuner DVR

Recommendation

If you need to replace your Simple.TV device, or if you are looking for a new OTA DVR, I recommend the TiVo OTA DVR along with adding a TiVo Mini to whatever room you want to extend your TiVo OTA DVR experience.
