The Matrix

The Matrix introduced us to a new style of film-making. And if you didn’t know who Keanu Reeves was before this movie, you certainly did afterwards.

Morpheus: This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

The Matrix Reloaded

The Matrix Reloaded is the second movie in The Matrix trilogy. As the fight against the machines continues, The Matrix Reloaded explores the love between Neo and Trinity, and the beauty and strength of true love.

Neo: “Trinity, I know you can hear me. I’m never letting go. I can’t. I just love you too damn much.”

The Matrix Revolutions

The Matrix Revolutions is the last movie in The Matrix trilogy. In this movie, the machines realize they simply can’t understand the human spirit.

Smith: Why, Mr. Anderson? Why, why, why? Why do you do it? Why? Why get up? Why keep fighting? Do you believe you’re fighting for something? For more than your survival? Can you tell me what it is? Do you even know? [becomes visibly agitated] Is it freedom or truth?! Perhaps peace?! Could it be for love?! Illusions, Mr. Anderson, vagaries of perception! Temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose! And all of them as artificial as the Matrix itself, although only a human mind could invent something as insipid as love! You must be able to see it, Mr. Anderson! You must know it by now! You can’t win! It’s pointless to keep fighting! [now clearly enragedWhy, Mr. Anderson?! Why?! WHY DO YOU PERSIST?!

Neo: [manages to stand] Because I choose to.

The Karate Kid (1984)

Sure… The Karate Kid is a predictable movie. But this movie has it all – the good kid who has it tough, the teacher and father figure role model, the villain, and of course… the girl. And the movie is told perfectly with a genuine warmth that pulls at your heart. You will definitely find yourself rooting for the good guys.

Miyagi: First, wash all car. Then wax. Wax on…
Daniel: Hey, why do I have to…?
Miyagi: Ah ah! Remember deal! No questions!
Daniel: Yeah, but…
Miyagi: Hai! [makes circular gestures with each hand]
Miyagi: Wax on, right hand. Wax off, left hand. Wax on, wax off. Breathe in through nose, out the mouth. Wax on, wax off. Don’t forget to breathe, very important. [walks away, still making circular motions with hands]
Miyagi: Wax on, wax off. Wax on, wax off.

Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Nightmare on Elm Street is one of several critical horror films that has shaped the horror movie industry. This movie inspired many other horror movies to new levels. Nightmare on Elm Street had a number of sequels and a reboot in 2010.

Nancy Thompson: [to Glen on the phone] Whatever you do… don’t… fall… asleep.
