Millarworld comic books includes the stories of characters such as Kick-Ass, Wanted, and Kingsman, and is known for their original superheros, incredible artists, and superior storytelling.

This purchase positions Netflix to continue to build on its growing library of original series and movies.

Millarworld owns twenty franchises. However, it is unclear if this purchase includes the characters from the Wanted, Kick-Ass, and Kingsman franchises since they have had earlier movie releases and may have potential ties to other Hollywood deals. For example, the Kingsman franchise is scheduled to release Kingsman: The Golden Circle on September 22, 2017. Additionally, there are reports that the Kingsman 3 (possibly a working title) will be produced.

Whatever character franchises were included in the deal, Netflix will get more than the existing base of Millarworld characters and stories. According to the Netflix news release, Netflix and Millarworld have agreed to “continue to create and publish new stories and character franchises under the Netflix label.”

Netflix has already been very successful at bringing the Marvel superhero characters Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage to the screen. Acquiring these new characters and stories allows Netflix to expand further into the very popular superhero comic book genre.
