The Pilot episode of Star Trek: Discovery was free to watch over broadcast TV on CBS. If you have an over-the-air (OTA) antenna, you could watch the Pilot episode free on your local CBS channel.

However, ALL of the remaining episodes can ONLY be watched on CBS All Access.

Season One of Star Trek: Discovery will be 15 episodes and broken into two parts. The first part of Season One will feature eight episodes starting September 24, 2017. The second part of Season One is scheduled to start in January, 2018.
