Hurt Locker Trivia: James Cameron convinced his ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow to direct this film. Kathryn Bigelow made history by being the first (and only) woman to win an Oscar for Best Director. She also won an Oscar for Best Picture. The first woman nominated for a Best Director Oscar was Italian director Lina Wertmuller. Wertumuller was nominated in 1977 for Best Director of the movie Seven Beauties (Pasqualino Sette Bellezze).
